30cedaw2009The CEDAW is made up of 16 substantial and 14 procedural articles. Asia Pacific NGO Forum on Beijing +15

b15asia-pacificNext year 2010 will be the 15th year of the Beijing Platform for Action (BPFA). As has been the tradition, Asia-Pacific Women’s Watch (APWW) will convene the Asia-Pacific NGO Forum on Beijing + 15.  It will take place on 22-24 October 2009 in Manila, Philippines. Miriam College, a private educational institution for women, will host the event. UNIFEM in New York has pledged partial financial support.  (more…)

Civil society candidates for the 2010 CEDAW Committee

New members to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) will be elected by the UN General Assembly in 2010. There are two candidates from Latin America: Lorena Fríes (Chile) and Line Bareiro (Paraguay).
